Sometimes, when you’re so busy running a pub, you forget about all the amazing people who make everything we do possible.

As many of you know, we’ve been running our quiz for over three years and have supported three main charities or good causes along the way. Well, on Saturday, we had the incredible ladies from the Knitters and Natters of Pytchley host their very first coffee morning from the pub — and it was truly wonderful. The turnout was fantastic, and we are so grateful to everyone who came along to support what we’re trying to achieve.

They raised a staggering £502.60 for our current resident charity, The National Brain Appeal – Rare Dementia Support. These ladies are honestly remarkable. Not only do they give their time so freely, but they spend hours knitting beautiful handmade items and baking some of the most delicious cakes you’ll ever see — all crafted with genuine love, care, and community spirit.

Their dedication, creativity, and kindness filled the pub with warmth, colour, and the smell of freshly baked treats. The morning was a huge success because of their hard work, team spirit, and the joy they bring to everything they do.

Alongside them, our amazing Amy from Empatia Specialist Dementia Coaching and her wonderful friend from The Rainbow Care Group – North Northants continue to do outstanding work supporting people living with dementia in our community.

Thanks to the efforts of all these fabulous women — and the generosity of everyone who attended — we’ve now passed the £15,000 mark raised for good causes from the pub. That is something we can all be incredibly proud of.

A special shout‑out must go to our brilliant quiz masters. First we had Chris Duffie and the host‑with‑the‑most Sam in year one. Then came the brilliant Ray, with Kish stepping in as needed. And now the incredibly wonderful Amy, who is so charming she has Chris, Lez, Ray, and Kish all stepping in regularly, with Chris and Lez doing every second week. The quiz is now almost full every week, which is helping the charity pot grow even faster — and the prizes are well worth winning if you’re smart enough (and lucky enough!).

A big day for us, as our talented chef of over a year will be working his final shift. I’ve been lucky to have him, and he will be missed. I’ll be taking over the kitchen fully, keeping the improvements he’s made while also bringing back some old favourites like melba toast and croquette potatoes.

Bingo returns on Sunday night — we took this week off for the annual carpet clean carried out by POLDHU Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning (www.poldhucleaning.com).
