February Update – What a Month So Far!

Can’t believe we’re already halfway through the month — and what a month it has been!
We’ve grown the team, and the new batch are fantastic and settling in brilliantly.

Our chef has moved on to pastures new, and while we’re excited for his future and grateful for everything we learnt from him, Philip has now taken back full control of the kitchen — and he’s absolutely buzzing to be back.

Today saw the return of freshly made potato croquettes on the Sunday menu, which also means the comeback of Melba toast on the restaurant tables Wednesday to Saturday (we need the crusts for the croquettes!).

Philip even got to make the famous Granny’s Lentil Soup, as featured in The Telegraph. Truth be told, Philip never really left the kitchen — he was still responsible for many of the menu favourites.

Don’t Forget – We Serve Food All Day

We serve food all day, every day — the only exception is Sundays, when the kitchen closes at 4pm. So whether you’re popping in early, late, or somewhere in between, we’ve got you covered.

Valentines, Rugby & A Busy Weekend

Thank you to all the lovely couples who celebrated Valentine’s with us this weekend, and a big thank you to Gareth for making the restaurant look incredible.

It was also great to have such a lively crowd in for the Six Nations!

Bingo Tonight at 7.30pm

Bingo is back tonight at 7.30pm!
We missed it last week while the carpets were being professionally cleaned, but we’re back to help make someone a bit of money and to raise even more for our chosen charity partners. Grab your dabbers and come join us — it’s always a brilliant night!

Monday Club

Just how it used to be — when it’s gone, it’s gone!
We only have one sea bass left, but the off‑cuts from the Valentine’s fillet are becoming the most amazing stroganoff with pilaf rice.
If you’re early, you might also get to try the chicken roulade from the Valentine’s menu: sliced chicken breast, thin-sliced 7‑hour ham, cream cheese and tomato, rolled and breadcrumbed. It worked brilliantly and might even make an appearance again on Easter Sunday.

Our skittles team are at home this week and will be getting homemade curry after their match. We’re looking forward to our second fixture of the Stirrup Cup.

Tuesday – Quiz Night

From 8pm–10pm with the brilliant Chris and Lez.
We’ve got 9 teams booked already, but there’s still a little space for new teams.

  • Open the Box is at 18 keys with over £200 likely in the pot.
  • Spin the Wheel for a chance at £100.
  • Play Your Cards Right hasn’t been won for the past two weeks and is sitting at £250+!

Wednesday

The restaurant is fully booked for the evening — so we can’t tempt anyone in with the free dessert offer — but Free Sweet Wednesday is still available at lunchtime.

Thursday – Steak & Burger Day

20% off steaks and burgers all day.
This week we’re doing 8oz fillet for £30 — not included in the 20% off because it’s already an absolute steal. Come and see what 30 years of cooking steaks tastes like.

Friday

Plenty of space at the moment — come down, enjoy the cosy fire or hide away in the secret games room.

Saturday – Rugby

If you’re here for a full match, you’ll be in with a chance to win a Timmy Taylor rugby ball.
